I stopped in for breakfast while working and called ahead to ask about the ham options. I specifically asked whether they had thick-cut ham steaks, which are a common breakfast item. After arriving, I overheard the same staff member who had taken my phone call, took my order, and accepted my payment laughing and joking with a customer about my request for a thick slice of ham. This made the experience extremely awkward and embarrassing. We decided to order the ham anyway. I then observed that same employee handling the ham with his bare hands before rinsing it and having it cooked. The ham ultimately had an unpleasant odor, and we chose not to eat it. The eggs looked good visually, but they lacked flavor and had a taste that reminded me of water. The smoked sausage was not enjoyable either. Overall, the food did not meet expectations. Unfortunately, the combination of the uncomfortable interaction and the quality of the food left a negative impression. I won’t be returning.

it's a "hot bar" that you are rushed through to pick a meat and sides. The cornbread?? Was a watered down ho cake that was thin enough to crack a tooth with no flavor. The fried chicken was blond with zero salt. The Macaroni and cheese?? was unflavored. The Mashed Potatoes was from a box with extra water. I did this so you wouldn't have to. Hard Pass.

First visit and the ladies were sweet and welcoming. The food not seasoned to my liking nor was the lemonade or sweet tea southern sweet to my liking but it was filled with hardworking folks.

The best place to eat some real home cooked southern food! This place reminds me of my mother's cooking growing up. If you've never tried it, you're missing out!!

Cox Cafe harkens back to an era before there were chain restaurants littering the landscape. Walking in, you feel like you have been transported back in time to a place where everyone knew each other, and you knew that you were going to be welcomed. Friendly service, warm smiles, and hot food since 1996. This is not a place that you are going to happen by while driving around. Cox Cafe is located deep in the industrial part of Macon. This is where the hard-working folks come to eat a hearty meal before heading back to work. We came today based on a recommendation from a friend. We are glad we did. The food was good, and the servings were plentiful. You won't leave here hungry. What a wonderful experience!
